JRC Teda 2018 Jingdong X Robot Challenge, sponsored by Jingdong United Tianjin Economic and Technological Development Zone, was held in Tianjin. Top 10 robotic teams from home and abroad staged a peak duel. Bionic Design and Robot Learning Lab (BionicDL) and the team from Nanyang University of Technology jointly formed Nanyang Team to compete in the finals.
According to the competition regulation, the robot starts from the starting point and moves to the shelf to pick and carry the goods and place the codes in the designated position without any markers. Among 20 different kinds of goods, such as color, shape, size, smoothness and placement, 10 of them should be selected accurately and efficiently, which will greatly test the integrity of the cooperative operation of robot vision recognition, grasping and other complex technologies. At the same time, because of the randomness of the target commodity, it greatly stimulates the players’ ability of technical adjustment and team cooperation.
After two rounds and three hours of fierce competition, relying on fast visual recognition, super grasping ability and strong on-site competition strength, Nanyang team won 100,000 yuan bonus.
