Bionic Design and Learning Lab (BionicDL) welcomed Hu Chunxu, a well-known ROS blogger to give a training on ‘ Robot Operating System(ROS) Based on Linux System’ at South University of Science and Technology (SUSTech).
For the beginning of the training, Hu gave an introduction of ROS. ROS is based on Linux. Learning ROS requires a certain knowledge of Linux system and C++/python programming. ROS provides a modular communication mechanism, a series of open source development tools, a series of state-of-the-art algorithms, application packages and a complete and active ecosystem.
The core part of the training is about machine vision, motion simulation and manipulator control.
Besides teaching, Spark robots are provided with uArm robotic arms for hands-on experience during the course.
Students and the faculty members in attendance took plenty of questions including the open degree of ROS-I on various manipulators, how to realize collision detection with ROS, how to solve Kinematics Equation of Robot, and so on.
Professor Song Chaoyang emphasized the importance of ROS in Robotic Control and simulation, pointing out that ROS is a useful tool for the research development of Adaptive Grasping program and Lobster Biomechanics program.
About the Speaker
Hu Chunxu, a well-known robot blogger, master of automation college of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, is the co-founder of Wuhan Jingfeng Microcontrol Technology Co., Ltd. At present, he is mainly engaged in the research and development of robot control system. As the earliest ROS developer in China, he has many years of development and application experience, and has participated in the research and development of wheeled mobile robots, robotic arms and other robotic products.
